Zoyd Wheeler (Played by Leonardo DiCaprio)
Zoyd is a lovable slacker and single father who performs an annual public act of madness, like jumping through a plate-glass window, to collect mental disability checks. DiCaprio’s unmatched charisma and physical acting make him the ultimate choice to bring Zoyd’s chaotic energy to life.
Frenesi Gates (Played by Regina Hall)
Frenesi is a radical 1960s filmmaker who joins an underground political group before getting trapped in a toxic relationship with an authoritarian prosecutor. Regina Hall plays Frenesi with the complex mix of vulnerability, guilt, and defiance that the character requires.
Brock Vond (Played by Sean Penn)
Brock Vond represents the dark side of government authority, obsessed with hunting down political dissidents. Penn’s intense acting style fits Vond’s cold, calculating nature, setting up explosive scenes against DiCaprio and Hall.
Prairie Wheeler (Played by Chase Infiniti)
Prairie is Zoyd’s sharp and curious daughter who tries to piece together the truth about her missing mother. Chase Infiniti brings youthful energy and curiosity, driving the narrative investigation forward.
Production Scale and Massive Budget Details
This movie is not just another quiet auteur drama. Warner Bros has reportedly invested over $115 million into the production, making it the most expensive film of Paul Thomas Anderson’s career.
The production filmed across multiple California locations, including Humboldt County, Eureka, Sacramento, and Borrego Springs. The team used real outdoor environments, period-accurate vehicles, and practical stunts rather than relying on digital green screens.
The cast of vineland film took part in complex chase sequences, tactical police raids, and large crowd scenes. This enormous scale proves that the studio views this film as both an awards juggernaut and a major commercial release.
